Gucci Watches Take Over The Watch Industry

Since the invention of the quartz watch in the 1970's, nearly all of the watches on the market are quartz battery powered. Over 90% of all watches manufactured today, including Gucci watches, are quartz watches. So why has the watch industry gone quartz and for the most part stopped making mechanical watches?
There are several advantages to quartz watches over mechanical watches. Although it may not seem like it, quartz is much cheaper than mechanical watches. Aside from it being cheaper to purchase, the parts are much cheaper and the watch as a whole is more reliable. Therefore, there is less maintenance required with a quartz watch than a mechanical watch.
You will find that with a quartz watch, you will on average lose or gain up to one second per week. Compare that to a mechanical watch, which can potentially lose or gain up to one minute per week. It is obvious that quartz watches are much more accurate and reliable than a mechanical watch. What makes quartz so accurate is its extremely high oscillations of up to 32,768 cycles per second.
While it is more accurate, quartz watches are also very reliable. Quartz watches have fewer moving parts than mechanical watches, which gives it less of a chance to break down. With all of the moving parts going on in a mechanical watch, there is more friction and wear and tear on the parts, causing them to break down much quicker.
As mentioned, a majority of the watch industry has gone quartz replacing the fad of mechanical watches that dominated the world since the 14th century. With the invention and innovation of quartz watches, you can now find high quality Gucci watches such as the 6105 collection for women and the 7705 for men.
So you may wonder why there are even 10% mechanical watches still manufactured today. Mechanical watches tend to have a longer lifespan than quartz watches, and with the proper care and servicing can be handed down for generations. You will often find mechanical watches as collectibles that can build up a hefty price tag because of its rarity.
Also, mechanical watches are not near as sensitive to cold temperatures like quartz watches are. In cold conditions, mechanical watches continue running while quartz watches will shut down temporarily to save the battery life.
No matter where you look, you will almost always find quartz watches nowadays. With the number of benefits quartz watches have over mechanical watches, you can now save money and have a reliable watch with less maintenance. Every name brand, including Gucci watches, has gone quartz taking over the watch industry in a hurry.

Digital Watch Vs Analog Watch - Which Should You Get?

With the advent of the digital era, suddenly in the 70's and 80's digital watches were the rage. It signified that the wearer was keeping abreast of technological innovation. The first digital watches featured LED display technology. LED technology consumes lots of power so the user had to press a button for the time to be lit up. Further advancement were made with the introduction of LCD display which enabled time to be shown constantly.
Furthermore, digital watches now come with an array with functions such as stop watch, calculator, alarm and many more. So what type of watch is better: analog or digital? Digital watches feature a set of numbers to tell you the time. They tell you the time very precisely up to the second and enable you to have accurate information. Another advantage of digital watches is that should the watch fail, immediately the reading disappears and you know it's time to change battery or the watch. However, the long and short hands of an analog watch simply stop moving and you may be misled into thinking you have ample time on hand and miss your appointment. There is simply no warning given to you that your watch has failed. On the other hand, analog watches serve the user very well too. At one glance, you can roughly tell the time. Analog displays can also tell you if something is wrong straightaway. An aircraft contains many instrumentation dials. The aircraft manufacturers therefore have come up with an ingenious idea of building them such that needles are always pointing north or to the top to indicate everything is in working order. The pilot can tell if there is anything wrong just with one glance. The pilot can easily know something is wrong if he sees a needle pointing down or any other fluctuations in the readings. This applies to the motor car as well. Straightaway, the motorist knows something is wrong if he sees the needle in the red zone. A digital display does not convey if anything is wrong. It is simply a number and does not immediately tell the user if things are right or wrong. We humans are by nature analog creatures. Do you tell your friend to meet you at 3: 27? No, you'll tell him to meet you at half past three. A picture tells a thousand words and humans find it easier to interpret pictographic information rather than numbers. If you think carefully , a watch with a face looks more beautiful than a watch simply with numbers on it. It is a work of art and beauty. It is no wonder luxury watches from Cartier or Breitling only feature analog display.

Step in the New Era and Watch Digital Satellite TV

With the new craze for all things digital, the number of people who choose to watch digital satellite TV is increasing day-to-day. The idea of digital TV got inspiration from a computer screen with its crisp and stable images, and developed further into a high resolution digital TV set and more capacious digital satellite TV. Television has firmly stepped in the new era, where there is no place for obsolete analog TV of the past.
In terms of sharpness, color, detail, and stability, digital TV is far ahead of the conventional analog TV. And though analog TV sets are still owned by many families in the U.S., digital TV sets, or HDTV, are in great demand as more and more viewers prefer to watch it. In comparison with an impeccable picture quality of digital TV, analog TV screen looks fuzzy and pale.
As compared to traditional broadcasting, digital television has one more advantage: it is able to receive a larger number of channels – both free and paid. Though the selection of free channels is quite big, you can always expand it with subscription channels as well as pay-per-view programs and movies of your choice.
If you want to watch digital satellite TV, you should know that you will need a satellite dish, a receiver, and a digital TV set in order to handle the high resolution. In some cases, additional equipment may also be required.
You can opt either for a mini satellite dish or a full-size one, depending on your location and space available for the dish set up. A larger dish, of course, will be able to receive more and better signals; though, commercial satellite signals are strong enough, so mini dish may do just fine.
However, the ability of your dish to receive digital television signals may be affected by a tall building, a tree, or any other object that prevents the satellite signals from reaching your dish. Bad weather conditions may also impair the television quality.
If you find all the equipment installation too costly or complex, there is another alternative that allows anyone to watch digital satellite TV on computer, without an expensive HDTV set purchase. The widest selection of channels is ready for you at a few mouse clicks. Watch with the amazing new software and give a new dimension to your viewing experience!
The software can be downloaded instantly from merchant sites once payment is made. Installation is as simple as ABC and within minutes, you would be able to watch your favourite TV programs live on your screen.
Download the software today from my television blog and watch digital satellite TV in the comfort of your room today!

Watch Digital Satellite TV - Comparision With Analog TV

Many people are showing a keen interest to watch digital satellite TV. It does not matter where you live, you can get to watch TV through two different TV systems. You can either watch digital TV or analog TV. What sets them apart is the quality of the TV channels you are watching. We will soon find out more about these two TV systems.
Let us consider analog TV and digital satellite. Analog TV is an old TV system. This is the pioneer TV system that made its way into many homes due to its affordability. Digital satellite TV is definitely an improved TV system but you need to know that you need a digital TV that can handle the pixel requirement required to watch digital satellite TV. The picture quality in terms of its contrast, sharpness and so on is dependent on the number of pixels.
On top of a digital TV, you also need a satellite TV system that includes a satellite dish and a receiver in order to be able to watch digital satellite TV channels. The whole satellite TV system is used to receive the TV feeds for display on your TV. Nowadays, the digital TV set allows you to watch TV channels with excellent picture quality so much so that analog TV quality really pales in comparison.
Other than better picture quality, there are many advantages in using digital TV system to watch satellite TV. Digital satellite TV also provides you with a larger selection of TV channels than analog TV. All these add up to give you a more pleasurable viewing experience. Not only so, nowadays, some satellite TV companies are providing you with recorders to record the satellite TV programs.
To watch digital satellite TV is not perfect though. One setback is that it can get affected by bad weather conditions. In the event of a storm or strong winds, the TV connection may be broken. What you end up with is fuzzy images and you cannot make out the images clearly.
Digital satellite TV is a clear winner when compared to analog TV in every sense. Right now, digital TV is gaining much popularity as the main TV system at home. This is especially so when there are teens at home who would bug their parents to set up the digital satellite systems to receive the TV channels.
Anyone who is not watching digital satellite TV is missing out a quality TV viewing experience. Discover how you can do so using satellite TV software through my PC satellite TV mini guide.

The Wrist Watch And The Digital Age

When I was growing up it was always a sign of intelligence to own a wrist watch. As kids we had no concept of time and we didn't need to worry about time. A wrist watch was something that we knew would govern our lives and was just something else to lose. Then along came the digital watch.
I'm sure the digital watch must have been invented by some one who's kids always stayed out later that they should and were never on time for tea, but hey, they didn't own a wrist watch so they couldn't tell what time it was.
Digital watches changed all of this, digital watches were cool they did all sorts of cool digital things that posh quartz wrist watches didn't do.
The good people at Casio made the coolest digital watches, these had calculators on them, you could play games on them, albeit very basic number games and they played crazy digital tunes like "The Yellow Rose of Texas" in a horrible tinny pling plong fashion.
But all the kids loved Casio digital watches.
Soon manufacturers from all over Japan and China were coming up with digital watches that copied the Casio version but nothing could surpass it.
It just wasn't the same when on Christmas Day you eagerly opened your presents hoping for a Casio Digital watch only to discover that your parents had gone out and purchased you what they thought to be the latest thing in high-tech only to find out you were going to be just another has been at school as far as super cool digital watches were concerned.
Digital watches have come along way since my boyhood years, basically they are still the same time piece. They still tell the time on a grey screen with black digits but nowadays they have been more under engineered more than anything. The evolution of the digital watch has gone backwards.
This is mainly down to the fact that Casio decided that they'd taken the digital watch as far as they could and moved on to bigger and better things. As well as this the youth of the day moved on and realised that once you'd listened to an awfully tinny rendition of "The Yellow Rose of Texas" approximately one hundred times you didn't really care for the tune that much.
And then one day it dawned on the youth of the day that we were becoming slaves to time. We'd been lured into a world of digital slavery by our parents on the pre-tense of being cool and trendy by having a Casio digital watch that did all the things we could ever dream of, and plenty more.
But suddenly we knew what time tea was, we knew what time we had to be in by, the digital watch cut short our fun time and we had no excuse any longer.
So we all stopped wearing watches for a couple of years and dragged our childhood out for as long as we could, it wasn't cool to wear a smart quartz watch and any how they were too expensive to lose so our parents wouldn't buy us one.
So for approximately one year of my childhood I was suckered into an age of digital slavery by my parents, my peers and by Casio.
I've never owned a digital watch since but I do love my wrist watch, and yes, I am a slave to time and I have just bought my son a solar watch, and he loves it. Little does he know!
And I've not heard the "Yellow Rose of Texas" for about 25 years.
I try to pass on my musings on life and experiences in a way that people may find interesting to read.

A Review Of The Casio WMP-1V MP3 Audio Wrist Watch

The Casio WMP-1V MP3 is an interesting product. Is it a watch like every regular watch? Yes and no, depending on what you mean by a regular watch. If for you, a watch means a timepiece or any instrument that tells the time, then the answer is a big "Yes". However, if for you it means a small unobtrusive timepiece, then it is not.
Now to another question, Is this an MP3 player? Yes, if you refer to the ability to play files in that audio format. But a big "No" if you think of a player with the capabilities of an iPod.
The Casio WMP-1V MP3t has a lot of features jammed into it for such a small gadget. For its weight (70 grams) it does have a lot of features.
Now let's get into this piece. It has poorly designed buttons since they are not very responsive. You'll have to take out some time just to learn to use them. This is not just a personal opinion. I asked a few users too and they had similar complaints. However, they do their job, though. If you have some time to spend learning the ins and outs of this watch you probably will enjoy all the extras that come with it. But if you are not very technically inclined this watch will not be a good match for you.
The fast-forward and rewind buttons are also used to scan through songs. However, I was not really happy with the mode button. This mp3 player/watch has four modes. You'll have to keep pressing through all the play modes before you can set you equalizer (Yes, this wrist watch also has an equalizer). I guess I'm so used to easier navigation that I've not given due consideration to the fact that there are few buttons. This gives the designers less options.
If you want the best wrist watch, look somewhere else. If you want the best mp3 player, try an iPod. But if you want a bit of both, the Casio WMP-1V MP3 is for you. That is if you don't mind wearing a wristwatch that's about four times your usual size.
This watch is a great piece if you want a secure MP3 player for running and doing other outdoor activities. It definitely is not going to fall off once you have it strapped to your wrist. But for its size I really was just not that impressed. Perhaps if the buttons were a little easier to navigate through then this watch would be more appealing to me, also if it was a tad bit smaller and fit on my wrist in a more natural way.

Buy A Fine Watch To Demonstrate Fashion Sense

Most men aren’t remotely obsessed with fashion, definitely not to the extent that women are. Men as a rule generally have more important things in their life to worry about than keeping up with the latest trends in the fashion world. However, there are several things you can do which will go far to demonstrating a great fashion sense and you don’t have to read GQ or Maxim to do it.
The most important fashion item that all men must own is a great watch and not just any watch but a higher end fine watch that will turn heads and have people asking, “Where did you get that watch?”
Watches are vastly underrated accessories, especially for men. Over recent years fine watches have become much more than just a tool with which to tell time, they are reflections and extensions of one's own unique personality.
A fine quality watch is the surest and most rapid way of putting out an image that exudes confidence. How many guys do you know that have a Drawer full of cheap, inexpensive watches like Timexes for example? Not that there is anything wrong with a Timex. I think they are a good watch for sports activities, but one needs to take it up a notch to demonstrate that they have some sense of style.
Anyone can accumulate a bunch of inexpensive watches throughout their life but what they really should do instead is just invest in one or two fine watches that will last a lifetime. Ideally you want a fine watch like a TAG Heuer or maybe even a quality pre-owned Rolex. I personally prefer the looks of the TAG watches but whatever you taste or your budget you will find a fine watch that will fit you needs online.
A fine watch is quite possible the most important accessory that a man should have. A fine watch says to the world that this is a successful and confident man.
Put away those gaudy 1970’s style gold chains and bracelets like you see on a used car salesman. You do not have to go over board, as a matter of fact quite the opposite. All you have to do is have a fine watch that fits you and your personality and remember you get what you pay for so purchase the most expensive watch you can afford.

Watch Out for These Tips to Buying a Men's Watch

When it comes to men's accessories, nothing is more underrated to wear than a classy watch. A men's watch is actually more of a piece of fashion than a tool to tell time anymore. The right watch can actually be a reflections of your personality. It is a simple yet quick way of showing a confident and successful image to the world. Almost anybody can own a bunch of inexpensive Timex watches throughout their life but its those expensive ones that last a lifetime in quality and prestige.
The idea I'm trying to convey is a watch is one piece of a man's wardrobe that every man needs. Don't even think about wearing a gold chains or even a thumb-rings boy. The idea is to look good while looking normal. With a nice, classy watch, you get what you pay for. Here are some of the important things you need to keep your eyes out for next time you go watch shopping:
A stainless-steel bracelet - If you're looking for a good watch, then you better be sure the bracelet is made from a durable stainless steel. It looks sharper and more expensive than leather, plus its simply more practical. What makes stainless steel so great is it is nice enough to wear to a formal occasion in a suit but yet casual enough for any other outfit. It's dressy enough to be worn with a business suit and casual enough for other occasions. Stainless steel watches are waterproof too.
Face and strap color - Another new trend in watch design is with the dials and straps. Watches, both expensive and cheap, are now being made in bold and exciting colors. Just be careful about buying a colored watch if it is going to be your everyday watch. A bright red watch won't look good to wear to work in your business suit. Instead, save that red watch to wear for outfits that match it. Trendy watches should be your alternative watch choice.
The face - A major no no when it comes to choosing a watch is the size of its face in comparison to your wrist. For a man with a large wrist, a normal sized face ends up looking like he's wearing a small women's watch. He would need to choose one with a larger face to offset his wrist size. The newest trend in watchmaking is huge watch faces. All of the leading actors in Hollywood are now sporting watches with these large faces. You probably should too.
Its water resistance - One of the selling points for a waterproof watch is that you can go swimming with it on. Let's be serious here for a second...Who actually does that and if so how often? Most people take their watches off to go swimming simply cause it is just easier to do. The main reason why people buy waterproof watches is if they get caught in the rain. Be aware that when a watch company says that their products are waterproof, it doesn't mean they are totally safe from moisture. Some resist from splashing, rain, sweat, etc.

A Seiko Watch Speaks To Both Quality And Technology

There is nothing quite like wearing a quality wristwatch. The sleek lines, clean looks, and palpable craftsmanship can inspire confidence, highlight an outfit, and project an image of success and good taste. Sometimes part of that image is the amount of money you spent to wear a watch with a name like Rolex on it; it is no secret how much watches like that can cost. However, for those with less ostentatious tastes – yet with an eye for quality – there are more sensible options.
In was in 1924 that the first Seiko watch was built, and in the years since Seiko has established a reputation for the highest quality timepieces at prices that span the spectrum; from very expensive to quite affordable. Branching out from humble beginnings in Japan, Seiko is now a worldwide presence on people’s wrists and as the official timekeepers of major sporting events around the world; from the Olympic Games to World Cup soccer.
A Seiko watch is a prized possession because of its reputation for quality – Seiko is one of very few watchmakers who build all of their watch movements in house; such important details are not outsourced. But it is more than quality that has given the Seiko watch its lasting appeal; Seiko has long been at the forefront of technology as well. Not one to rely on the same looks and functions year after year, Seiko constantly raises the bar on their performance, and the current crop of watches is no exception.
For those with a taste for contemporary form with advanced functions, the Elite Collections offer automatic power technology – the watch powers itself using your movements as an energy source – and features such as titanium plating, one hundred meter water resistance, long term energy storage, a multi-hand stop watch, and much more. Available in several models for both men and women, the Elite collection is a high quality option that can be purchased for under $500 dollars.
Women will love to complement their evening wear with the ultra sleek look of the Tressia collection. With its woven bracelet and clean, uncluttered looks, it is a subtle yet stunning timepiece that looks as good as it works, and is a perfect dressy timepiece. The Le Grand Sport collection is one that can span the boundaries of any occasion. Men and women alike will find that its clean looks and multiple functions are perfect for work, play, and anything in between.
Great looks aside, what distinguishes Seiko watches from many other makes and models is the incredible technology. Kinetic Perpetual watches not only use your movement to power the watch, they go into sleep mode after twenty-four hours. When you pick them up again they not only reset to the correct time, but to the correct date as well. No matter the month – even on a leap year – the Kinetic Perpetual Seiko watch never needs to be adjusted. If you are interested in a watch that has technology to spare, then there is a Seiko watch for you.
The Kinetic Chronograph is the first chronograph watch that is powered by human movement, while the Seiko Flight Computer is every pilot’s dream with its ability to make fuel and navigation computations.
If after reading this you still are not sure if there is a watch for you, go to the Seiko website and browse through all the other models that are available. There you will find a selection of looks, prices, and features that will make it abundantly clear why owning a Seiko watch is as desirable now as it was nearly one hundred years ago.

A Brief History Of Seiko Watches

Watches are classic. They are an essential part of every wardrobe, but they must also possess style and functionality to the wearer. For years, watches have been extremely popular gift ideas while remaining a constant self-indulging accessory.
In 1881, Kintaro Hattori opened a clock shop in Tokyo, which established a foundation for modern clock and watch making in Japan. This new brand was titled Seikosha. The store was the direct ancestor of the current Seiko Corporation, Tokyo, which is the parent company of Seiko Corporation of America. Eleven years later, Hattori opened a clock factory with ten employees. Two months after it is inception, the first dozen clocks were produced. In 1895, the production of pocketwatches began. Following that trend, the company began to produce alarm clocks in 1899, which was followed by the introduction of table and musical clocks in 1902. In 1912, Hattori began considering ideas regarding the production of a Japanese wristwatch. The following year, his company began working on the first Seikosha wristwatch to ever be made in Japan. In 1924, the Seiko brand was officially created. After 43 years of the company's existence, the first Seiko wristwatch was made.
Since that time, there have been many modern advancements to the world of watches. But, throughout the changing times, Seiko has remained a powerhouse in the timepiece industry. In 1956, they produced the first self-winding wristwatch made in Japan. In 1964, Seiko released the world´s first quartz chronometers and became the official timer of the Olympic Summer Games in Tokyo. In 1968, they introduced the world´s first quartz wall clock. The following year, in 1969, Seiko released the first quartz watch. Also that year, Tiffany & Co. began selling the Seiko Astron 35SQ, which was encased in solid 18kt yellow gold. During the next several years, Seiko introduced many firsts to the world of watches, including the first multi-function digital watch and the first LCD quartz watch with six-digit digital display.
Seiko has served as the official timer for various athletic competitions and events. Among the collections offered by Seiko include the Tressia, La Grand Sport and Elite Collections, which includes the Sportura, Arctura and Coutura. Their line of technology timepieces include the Kinetic Perpetual, Kinetic Chronograph, Kinetic Auto Relay, Kinetic, Analog Digital, Chronograph, Flight Computer and Perpetual Calendar. The majority of Seiko timepieces are designed to be water resistant. The U.S. warranty for Seiko watches, which are sold by Seiko Corporation of America, is three years. The warranty for clocks is one year. Certain restrictions and exclusions may apply, so be sure to read your warranty information closely when purchasing any new timepiece and always retain a copy of all such warranties.
As with any timepiece, caring for your watch will promote a longer life for the product. If the battery is in need of changing, be sure to have this done immediately. Seiko advices that customers contact an authorized Seiko dealer for battery and other minor repairs. If the timepiece needs further repair or replacement parts not serviced by an authorized dealer, customers may return the watch to the address on their warranty card for proper handling. If the watch is under warranty, the repairs should be done at no cost. If the warranty has expired, however, the customer will be responsible for the cost of repairs and replacements.

A Seiko Watch - Long Lasting And Reliable

You have wanted to purchase a Seiko watch for as long as you can remember but you just never got around to it. You have seen this company's watches advertised on the internet and in stores and now you want to purchase one for your very own. Seiko was established in 1881 and is one of the premier watch manufacturers in the world today and introduced their first quartz watch in 1969.
Sekio believes that the best way for you to select and actually buy one of their watches is by going through one of their authorized retailers in a store. This will help ensure that you have an opportunity to see the latest Seiko styles that are available to the public. In addition, by purchasing from the authorized retailer, they will ensure that your watch is properly sized so that it fits correctly and they will provide you with any special operating instructions about the watch.
So, you want a Seiko watch. Now, what watch are you interested in getting? Did you know that you are no longer confined to the standard watch that your father and grandfather had? Consider one of the new Seiko watches—such as the world's first electronic paper watch. It was touted as being the first watch to utilize an electronic paper display-this design incorporated an easy-to-read, ultra-thin, low-power display integrated into an eye-catching curved band. How about the Seiko Kinetic watch?
You will never have to worry about taking your watch to the jeweler just to change the battery. The Kinetic watch has a quartz movement that does not use a battery. By the simple move of your wrist, the capacitor charges itself. Once the capacitor is fully charged, your watches will store energy for up to 6 months. If you wear your watch everyday, the capacitor is continually recharged and there are over 20 models to choose from.
Are you concerned about the plight of people in far away countries that are working in mines or supporting terrorists? Well, Seiko advertised that the diamonds used in their watches were purchased from legitimate sources and that they were not involved in funding conflicts.
So, what Seiko watch will you buy for yourself? It really does not matter because they are all excellent products. What you need to do is to make up your mind. Not an easy task to do since there are hundreds of different makes, models and styles to choose from.
Go into an authorized dealer and take a look around. Or, go onto the internet and look at what is available. It may be that your perfect watch is on the internet and that your local authorized distributor will have to order it for you. But, what is better than having a watch ordered for you and sized perfectly to your wrist. And, if there is a problem, you can go back to the dealer or contact Seiko Corporation of America directly by emailing their web site.
Good old fashion customer service can go a long way, and Seiko watch authorized distributors know about their products and how to please the consumer.

Seiko Watches

Since producing their first timepiece in 1924, the name Seiko has been synonymous with fine craftsmanship, and Seiko watches are known worldwide for their superb design, elite performance, and legacy of style.
Originally founded in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori, a watch and jewelry shop owner from the Ginza area of Tokyo, the company first began producing wallclocks in 1892 under the name Seikosha: Seiko is Japanese for “success”, “minature” or “exquisite” and Sha means “house”. Over the next few decades, Seikosha grew and began producing pocket watches and wristwatches, and in 1913 debuted the Laurel, the first timepiece ever produced in Japan. The first watches to be produced under the name Seiko began appearing in 1924, and in 1964, Seiko watches made history again by producing the world’s first quartz watch. Export of Seiko watches went from 1.6 million in1965 to 11.8 million in 1977. The quartz watch phenomenon allowed Seiko to expand rapidly. Production reached about 21 million in 2001. The company became recognized as the leader in timekeeping accuracy, and Seiko products were often used to time major sporting events including The World Cup, and the Olympic Games.
Since their early beginnings as the one of the world’s premiere watchmakers, Seiko has set many precedents, including sponsoring Japan’s first TV commercial in 1953, serving as the Official Timer of 1964 Tokyo Olympic Games and producing the first TV watch in 1982, to name a few.
Seiko is also known for using state-of-the-art technology. From the early days in the Seiko history, Kintaro recognized the importance of having in-house parts and movement production in order to stay ahead of competitions. With the building of its first balance wheel in 1910 and the first dial in 1913, Seiko has sinced developed a unique line of quartz and mechanical watches including the Seiko automatic Chronometer series, the Bell-Matic, with a mechanical alarm, the luxury Credo, King Seiko, and the Grand Seiko lines. Seiko’s Kinetic watches account for the majority of the company’s watch sales because it combines the self-energizing attribute of an automatic watch with quartz accuracy, and recharges itself entirely by the energy and movement of the wearer. By now Seiko has 6 separate Kinetic movements including the Seiko Kinetic Auto Relay. It has a power saving feature whereby it hibernates when not used and wakes up again up to 4 years later to the correct time. The latest technological advancement from Seiko is the Seiko Spring Drive introduced in 1999. Spring Drive is a mechanical watch with the accuracy of a quartz watch. The mainspring in the Spring Drive powers a rotor whose electrical output induces a quartz crystal to emit a reference signal which regulates the speed at which the mainspring unwinds. It has a power reserve of 72 hours, one of the longest amongst all mechanical watches.
With innovation at the core of its company, Seiko is bounded to be at the forefront of new watch technology.

The Seiko Watch - A Stylish Watch From Asia

When looking for a stylish watch, there are many things that one should consider. Price is, of course, an important factor, but no less important is the look of the watch and its efficiency. Those looking for a stylish Asian watch should thus look into purchasing a Seiko watch.
A History of the Seiko Watch and the Seiko Corporation
The Seiko Corporation which produces Seiko watches, is a Japanese watch company that was started by Kintaro Hattori in 1881. This first shop was both a jewelry and a watch shop, and it was located in Japan's Ginza area. In 1892, Hattori expanded his line of products to also include clocks, manufactured under the name of Seikosha.
Despite having produced watches in the latter part of the 19th century, the first watches that were specifically known as Seiko watches did not appear on the market until 1924. A Seiko watch names the Seiko Astron was introduced onto the market in 1969. This watch was indeed notable, as it was the first production quartz watch. As such, it was quite expensive, costing the same amount that a medium-sized car at the time would.
The Seiko Watch Today
Seiko watches today are used for a number of important events. Most notably, the Olympic games have used these watches as their official timekeepers because they are known to be amazingly accurate.
Although the Seiko Corporation produces many different styles of watches, the most popular type of Seiko watch is the wristwatch. Since this company is one of only a few that manufacture every facet of the watch in-house, these watches are known also for their advanced technology.
The Seiko brand manufactures both mechanical and quartz watches. Some of types of Seiko watches require no battery at all, as they are powered by everyday wear. Seiko watches vary according to price, with the cheapest generally being under $100 and the most expensive costing several thousand dollars.
If one is a collector of these watches, it should be noted that the Seiko Corporation does not make every type of watch available in every area. Indeed, there are many types of these watches that are only available in Asia.
If one is looking into purchasing a Seiko watch, one should first consult the phonebook for reputable watch dealers, or the internet. Indeed, this type of watch is the ideal choice for those looking for a watch that is both attractive and efficient.

Why Every Man Should Own A High Quality Fine Watch

Generally men are not typically concerned about fashion. Although there are always exceptions to the rule, men usually let women pick their clothing. Even though you may not care much for fashion, there are some things you can do to demonstrate a sense of fashion.
A great item such as a fine watch should be a part of every man's wardrobe. A watch for a man can be a fashion statement in and of itself. A high end watch that is in good taste will add some tasteful flair to your wardrobe. Recently watches have returned as the new fashion statement for men. Men can express their personality through a choice of a good watch.
To find the right watch for you it is important to shop around a little. Searching online for a watch will help you to avoid the mall. By looking online you can also look for watches that allow you to express yourself without judgment.
Many men have owned a variety of cheaper watches throughout their lifetime, but until you find a high end watch you are merely toting a watch out of necessity. Timex is not necessarily a high end watch nor is Casio or any other watch with a plastic or cheap metal band. These are generally for everyday wear and sports activities. That is fine since they are intended for that.
If you are ready for a nice watch that will last and be a family heirloom someday then there are some names you may want to consider.
Some watch names to look for are TAG Heuer or even Rolex. Both are made of superb quality and style. Either watches brand is high end and bound to become a treasured family heirloom.
TAG Heuer has the Aqua racer collection. They are quart crystal watches which are very accurate and dependable. There are several to choose from and all equally beautiful timepieces.
Another popular and classic brand of watches is Rolex. They have been around for a long time and are often referred to as the king of all the watches. They are watches to pass down from generation to generation. The Cellini watch is simple in design but classy as ever.
Regardless of your idea on fashion, there is no reason you can't make a statement with a classy high end watch. The difference once you have one on your wrist may surprise you. Once you wear a beautiful watch you may never pull out the others again. The confidence you may feel from owning such a timepiece will help you feel more successful. A fine watch will be a timeless heirloom to pass on for generations to come.

Seiko Watch - The Most Dependable Watch in the Universe

Seiko watches are synonymous with Japan. The word Seiko means exquisite, success or miniature. The company was born in 1881 by Kintaro Hattori of K. Hattori & Co., Ltd.. The first Seiko watch was produced in 1913 and since then there was no looking back.
If you are looking for a dependable quartz watch then a Seiko watch is definitely for you. The unique thing about early Japan watches was that they were based on lunar movements as apposed to the watches of the west, which were inspired by the movement of the sun. This tradition soon gave way to the western system and today the entire world follows the sun’s movements to record time. Seiko mass-produced quartz watches which were exported by Japan all over the world. Quartz watches are based on the theory that quartz crystals generate electricity when pressure is applied, thus precise quartz time came into being. But today Seiko watches have moved far ahead of being just quartz watches. Seiko developed the kinetic technology that is the worlds fist batter less watch that is as precise as quartz. The first pocket watch made by Seiko was called the Time Keeper. Seiko watches saw world wars and earthquakes but survived it all and today are seen all over the world on many wrists. The first women’s quartz watches, the first LCD watch with a six-digit display as well as the first quartz dress watch were all Seiko watches.
Seiko also developed digital watches though they were not the first to launch them. These high performance though low cost digitals have in one time or the other adorned almost all wrists. These digitals are used as stop watches and sports chronographs and are valued for their high precision. It is easy to tell time in the digital Seiko watches even by children who have not learnt to read time.
Seiko watches are mass-produced. Though not known for their uniqueness they are valued for their sleek styles as well as affordable ranges, needless to mention precise time telling abilities. Both genders find watches according to their taste and budget in the Seiko range of watches. But the relevance of Seiko watches in today’s time is far more than ever before. The creation of the battery less watch has done wonders for the environment. In today’s day when the need to protect and guard our environment is evident to us, Seiko watches which batter less seem to be the need of time. Watches like the Perpetual calendar, which is a Seiko watch, too are heaven sent since the date changes automatically in them and they have a battery life that lasts a decade. The Kinetic auto relay is another Seiko watch to marvel at. The watch goes to sleep when not in use and can be awakened even after four long years to tell the precise time.
Digital, quartz or battery less whatever the range might be the ruler of these watches is definitely the Seiko watches.

History of Casio Watches

Sometimes things start out in the most surprising ways. Take the watch company of Casio for example. If you were asked to guess what the first product that was made by Casio, you may think it was the calculator or some other type of electronic product. You would be wrong. The Casio Company was started 1946 by Tadao Kashio. Understand that this was in Japan following World War II. The financial situation was dire in Japan at the time to say the least. When Mr. Kashio began his company, he was a fabrication engineer hoping to catch a big break.
His big break showed up in a very unique way. Tadao Kashio developed a product called the yubiwa pipe. Its design allowed it to be worn on the finger. It was used to hold a cigarette, allowing the smoker to smoke the cigarette to the filter, all while still being able to use both hands. In the impoverished Japan of the times, cigarettes were a hot commodity and the product was an overwhelming success. The yubiwa pipe is a far cry from the calculators and watches that were to follow, but it did start the company down the road to success.
Since it is obvious that Mr. Kashio was an inventive sort of man, it only took a little while for him to decide to explore different products. At the business show in Ginza, Japan in 1949, he discovered electronic calculators. With the proceeds from the sale of the yubiwa pipes, Mr. Kashio and his brothers began to experiment with making their own calculators. At the time, most calculators were run by the use of gears. With diligence and hard work, the Casio Company came out with the first calculator to use solenoids. The new type of calculator went on sale in 1954. This calculator also was the first to have the 10 digit keypad and had only one display window as opposed to the competitors' that had three.
As you well know, calculators weren't the only product manufactured by Casio. After the release of the Model 14-A calculator, many more products were designed and released to the general public. The same year as the release of the 14-A, the company also became the Casio Computer Co., Inc. This is about the time when watches from Casio first made their mark on the watch industry. Casio has been well known for the huge variety and innovation of their watches almost since the beginning of production. They were one of the first watch companies to manufacture the now famous quartz crystal watches. The quartz watches produced by Casio were available in both digital and analog styles. It is possible that the most well remembered watch produced by this company was the calculator watch. For those of you who don't remember, it featured all of the amazing time keeping capabilities of the regular Casio watches, with an added feature. It had a tiny calculator complete with miniature keypad built into the watch. During its hey day it was the bane of math teachers everywhere and the savior of every math deficient student.

Tips on Taking Good Care of a Watch

A watch is more than an accessory and if you take good care of it the watch could become a family heirloom. Caring for a watch is not tedious.
• Always place your watch in its case at the end of the day. If you leave in it a bag or purse or on a table it could get scratched badly.
• Unless you watch is water proof or resistant you must protect the watch from high humidity levels. Watches that have leather bracelets should not be worn for a swim or dipped in soap suds. The leather will get ruined.
• If you want a watch to outlast you then set up a service schedule like you do for your car. Get the watch serviced by its own manufacturer as far as possible. This way you will protect the watch’s authenticity. And, you can be assured that duplicate parts will not be used. The authorized center will service the watch and replace any worn out parts, lubricate the watch, and clean its case.
• Read the care booklet carefully. And follow the instructions given.
• If the watch is a mechanical one try not to be rough when winding the watch.
• If the watch has a metal strap, you can clean the strap in water or use soap, water, and an old toothbrush to clean all the grime away .Take care not to let water into the case. And wipe the case gently with a soft cloth.
• Leather straps must be protected from perspiration and expert’s advice that watches with leather straps should be worn loose in summer. When wet the strap must be dried with a soft cloth. Never use a hair drier it will crack the leather up.
• Protect your watch from high temperatures, contact with leaking batteries or harmful chemicals, magnets, strong sunlight, and shocks.
• If you want to adjust the strap length, place the watch on a flannel piece or cloth. Be gentle or the spring will fly out and never be found again. If you have clumsy hands then take the watch to the service center for adjustments.
• If the watch needs winding you must wind it at the same time everyday. Research indicates that winding in the morning is beat. Wind a watch slowly and consistently. Stop winding when you meet with resistance. Be careful or you will break the spring if you continue to wind the watch.
• If the watch is automatic then you cans wing the arm around in an arc to get the watch running. Some watches have winding too, and then give the watch around 25 gentle turns to get it running smoothly. Automatics can be left off overnight without winding.
• If you need to remove any scratches you can do so with a gentle cleaner and soft cloth to rub the scratch away. Many people use products that range from Brasso to toothpaste to Polywatch.
A watch will work for 10-15 years without breaking down. But sometimes not servicing the watch regularly can lead to huge expenses when a final break down occurs. The adage “a stitch in time saves nine” applies to the world of watches.

American Trucking Association Mobile Watch

The American Trucking Association has been instrumental in organization the Trucking Industry and setting up the Highway Watch. It is incredible and absolutely amazing the level of patriotism in the Trucking Industry and the T-5 Group (The Trucking Technology Think Tank Team) a division of the Online Think Tank immediately recognized this fact and wishes to go on record and applaud these efforts.
Indeed, as we look at history we see that Highway Watch Programs work adding the much needed eyes and ears on our Nation's roadways to stop a catastrophe. If you will recall it was Truck Drivers who were vigilant one night and caught the DC Shooters at a Rest Stop.
It is the contention of the T-5 Group that all trucking companies and Independent Drivers get hooked into the program and that they become aware of what to look out for, whether local or during intrastate hauls. This boosts the nation's strength and security and betters our chances of preventing a major event in our country.
Local delivery companies should also consider this or perhaps present a local Neighborhood Mobile Watch Program to their own city leaders, chamber of commerce or Police Departments. It makes perfect sense and it adds credibility to your company as well. It does not take much to set up a local Business Watch Program and the driver's will feel proud to be part of the solution in protecting the city.
There can be no doubt that the American Trucking Association has taken the lead in helping us secure out Nation and is keeping a watchful eye out for any suspicious activity from Evil Doers. Learn more about this great program:
